Art Brut @ Melkweg
Last month we caught the cheeky punksters as they started they’re extensive world tour with new album ‘Art Brut vs Satan’. Before the show we managed to get a few minutes with front man Eddie Argos who spoke about their experience of Amsterdam, his new love of folk music, how Emily Kane is a real person (no they’re not together but are now friends) and that he’s forgotten all Dutch words he’d learnt from last time!

On stage the foursome played an impressive set of new singles and classics. The sound and musical stylings having not changed since the last album and we’re glad to report just as humorous and culturally accurate. Eddie seemed to be struggling with some major back issues and instead of walking around the stage as he normally does held on the the mic stand for support and was even aided off stage after the oncor. Needless to say the gigs was still noisey, up beat and full of energy, the other members of the group making extra effort to get the crowd involved and they ate it up. Mosh pits and crowd surfing, this was one belting gig. We just hope Eddie gets better in time as they begin their 3 month tour covering Europe and America.
Have a listen to this classic track Emily Kane: <object width=”425″ height=”344″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/uvA0UBesfbY&hl=en&fs=1″></param><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/uvA0UBesfbY&hl=en&fs=1″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowscriptaccess=”always” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”425″ height=”344″></embed></object>
