Last friday we were invited to check out the first Amsterdam session of The Blog Parties ‘two citie one band’ monthly extravaganza. Arriving oh so fashionably late, we entered the packed Winston Kingdom just as London act the Dead Pixels took to the stage.  With their impressive mix of indie pop magic, electronica and two of the hottest girls wearing tiny spandex leggings and all over sequins, we were transfixed.

Although the crowd seemed to take a while to get into the vibe of the band, there was a 2 meter gap between stage and audience at the beginning of their set, the ones that got it, really got it and were popping out classic indie dance moves as the band played explosive singles ‘Words are Poison’ and ‘So You Say’.

The Dead Pixels, as well as the crowed, seemed to really enjoy the energy of the night. People sprawled out onto the Warmoestraat for some post-Pixel fresh air then charged straight back in to catch the Blog Party DJs spinning some delightfully trashy electro until the early hours. The whole night was a complete success and we welcome the next installment with American “dreamwave pop” act Neon Indian (details to follow).
