Sat Nov 21 - Cottage Industry Records Night @ Winston Kingdom

A great night of eclectic music from Cottage Industry Records:

Cottage Industry Records presents: The Night Of The Bright Epoch

Live:
Prince Rama Of Ayodhya (usa)
Prince Rama Of Ayodhya are a Boston-residing three-piece who sound very much as their name and album sleeve would probably indicate. According to legend (or a press release, to be more specific) the group came together at a Hare Krishna farm, leaving the fold to ply their trade among the great and the good of America’s psychedelic folk scene, sharing stages with Indian Jewelry, Larkin Grimm and Magik Markers. The album traces mystical and occult influences through a prog-tinged approach to folk, resulting in great tracks like the far-out. stoneage shuffle of ‘Mastodon’ and ‘Voyage To Corinthia’, which features the most preposterously kooky vocal this side of a Josephine Foster LP. Adding to the air of general wyrdness you’ll hear occasional Acid Mothers-style electronic interjections, prayer bells and goatskin drums. There’s another highlight buried somewhere in a passage of ‘Skipping Stones’ which sounds uncannily like Kate Bush covering of Status Quo’s ‘Pictures Of Matchstick Men’, which all by itself provides ample reason for investigating this strange but very alluring album.’ (www.boomkat.com)

Amen Dunes (usa/china)
‘Psyche folk bliss haze from a lone wolf called Damon McMahon, alone in cabin with the tape running.’ (www.last.fm)

Fyoelk (ger)
‘Psychedelic free-folk Electronics from Germany, but currently residing in Holland. Like an instrumental ballad version of Japanther, or a slightly less abrasive version of Frog Pocket. Luscious warm melodies from primitive organs and other keyboards are accompanied by electro-rock oriented beats that sound like they come from cheap 808 imitations.’ (www.incubate.org)

Mim (fr)
‘fly-over-america style folk pop’

Vicky & Ron (nl)
‘Hot and sweaty garage pop to bump and grind to.’
