Tunnel Rave or TunnelFest, is a unique event happening in the city this Sunday at the Toronto car tunnel thing (where Mauritskade hits Weeperplein).

The reasoning behind this legal rave-up is because for one day only the whole city of Amsterdam will be car free and what better way to celebrate this fume free event than with a electro/techno party!

Last year over 1500 people turned up to have a day-time dance about and throw some collective shapes and this time round it’s supposed to be even bigger. There is a bar at the tunnel but you are allowed to bring drinks as the whole thing is FREE

Starts at 14.00 and lasts until 19.00

Beat Battle @ Rooms of Red Bull

“Saturday August 8th ‘A Moovmnt with Nalden’ presents the finest beat makers our small country has to offer. Sixteen participants face off against eachother no holds bar! At the “Rooms of Red Bull” they will battle for the title ‘Red Bull Beat Champion’ off the Netherlands and 500 euros worth of prize money.

This year two of the most influential Dutch beat-minded hiphop blogs: Moovmnt.com and Nalden.net are hosting the Beat Battle at the Rooms of Red Bull event for the first time ever in the Netherlands. Our very own Belgian neighbour Lefto will be hosting the event and from 20:00 hours we will have an action-packed evening for you in store with beat makers like: FS Green, I.N.T, Louis Bordeaux, Bluntspeakers, Dyno, Hayzee, J83, Wan, Statik Music, Presto, Marcus Sebastian, Jay Bordeaux, Yskid and more. A handful of participants will be picked by means of a wildcard system and will be invited via Moovmnt.com and Nalden.net! So listen up all you Dutch beat makers…here’s what you have to do to get invited to compete against the cream of the crop.”

1. Visit Moovmnt.com or Nalden.net
2. Start zippping a demo folder containing at least 2 or 3 battle beats
3. Send the .zip file or a link to the file to music@moovmnt.com
4. Don’t forget to add your name, email and phone number

And the winners of the wildcards are I-Sa & Dukehugh!! Congratz you guys and see ya’ll this Saturday at the Rooms.

We do seem to list a fair few electro nights about town, so for something a little bit different this evening head down to Bitterzoet for some Dub Step music and aparently some Dub Step games..though we’re not too sure what that entails! All round it’s a pretty perfect Sunday evening night out.
