The Blog Parties are back for their monthly installment of live music and rawwwking DJs. Following the release of their album Get Young this weekend the delightful excitable indie pop from Boston group Pretty and Nice will be adorning theWinston Kingdom stage. Also in da ouse is DJ Dans le Rock and Kill All Hipsters mixing out some lovely remixes, indie and electro. Top stuff.

Last month Amsterdam Event Guide went along to the first in The Blog Parties series at Winston Kingdom and it was fantastic.. have a look at our glowing review here. With another band and some great DJs this second installment isn’t set to disappoint.

Live on stage is the aptly named The Amsterdams from Romania, blending together melodic pop rifts with indie guitars and nice rhythms. Think Cut Off Your Hands Say Yeah or the Shout Out Louds, think very very good.

Also there on the night are rising DJ stars Hermanos + Inglesos with that oh so great Belgium electro sound throwing out some heavy beats onto the dance floor.

Dead Pixels @ The Blog Parties

Last friday we were invited to check out the first Amsterdam session of The Blog Parties ‘two citie one band’ monthly extravaganza. Arriving oh so fashionably late, we entered the packed Winston Kingdom just as London act the Dead Pixels took to the stage. With their impressive mix of indie pop magic, electronica and two of the hottest girls wearing tiny spandex leggings and all over sequins, we were transfixed.

Although the crowd seemed to take a while to get into the vibe of the band, there was a 2 meter gap between stage and audience at the beginning of their set, the ones that got it, really got it and were popping out classic indie dance moves as the band played explosive singles ‘Words are Poison’ and ‘So You Say’.

The Dead Pixels, as well as the crowed, seemed to really enjoy the energy of the night. People sprawled out onto the Warmoestraat for some post-Pixel fresh air then charged straight back in to catch the Blog Party DJs spinning some delightfully trashy electro until the early hours. The whole night was a complete success and we welcome the next installment with American “dreamwave pop” act Neon Indian (details to follow).
